Preventing Falls: Balance
A loss of balance can cause falls and broken bones. Preventing falls in people with osteoporosis can prevent broken bones and consequent ongoing pain.
Your doctor can perform a simple test to check your balance, and if needed, recommend the use of a cane, a walker or balance training.
Exercise can also improve balance with the strengthening of stability muscle. Check with your doctor or health care professional to see what exercises strengthen stability muscles.
